By Sue Ricketts

 http://vyou.com/

This is just one of many great resources that you can use to connect with your past, current, and future friends/customers online. I like it so much in fact that I’m designating it as a primary place you can go to ask me questions that you want me to answer on the website SueRicketts.com.  Please stay tuned for that happening soon.

I’ll be able to receive messages and then create a video response. I can share it, embed it and post it anywhere I want to on the web. I’ll be able to interact and converse with anyone and find people as well as be found by them.

Beware there are a number of marginally interesting things here but there are also some pretty awesome things which you can view and ask questions directly of the presenters. Think you can do better? Why not try it out for yourself?

My Ideal Clients

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

Can you help me find them?

The clients I enjoy working with are business owners who are actively involved in making their businesses successful. They have between 20 and 50 employees for whom they feel responsible. These people understand the value of retaining loyal employees and know that there is a direct link between productivity and an employee’s sense of being secure and valued in their workplace. The clients I want to work with respect other people’s expertise, are practical and recognize value when it is presented to them. They have a history of being decisive and willing to take action. They care about achieving success, for everyone who is making a contribution to their company. They will do whatever it takes to protect and nurture those whom they consider family.

Is there any one who you’d like to meet? Someone who you would like to learn from? Who could fill your mind with a hundred new challenges? All you need to do is ask and we’ll see what we can find. Sometimes it’s a business connection which will help you in your business life. Other times it might be a chance to talk to someone you admire or would like to have as a mentor.

That’s what  Connections is about. Ask for those you need to connect with and the whole group will search through their contacts to fill your needs. That person will undertake to introduce you and from there you can ask away and make the connections that will fill your life.

If you are the one who knows someone, all that is asked is that you let me know and then help to put the two people together over a coffee. There is a lot of satisfaction in helping out someone else and you never know when it will be returned to you in some way.

Corporate Event planner is looking for connections to find work and to connect with those inthis profession

People willing to host a Japanese exchange student for one year in Guelph, Fergus area. Student arrives at the end of August 2009 and stay until June 30, 2010. She must attend a school in the Upper Grand District School Boar area.

Still looking for 2 more people who would be willing to act as editors for a book being written. The “job” entails reading a chapter every two – three weeks, making comments and suggestions, correcting syntax and grammatical errors and agreeing not to publish the material presented as their own.

This week I am looking for 5 – 7 people who would be willing to act as editors for a book being written. The “job” entails reading a chapter every two – three weeks, making comments and suggestions, correcting syntax and grammatical errors and agreeing not to publish the material presented as their own. Anyone out there up to the challenge? It sounds like fun.

Also needed is a person with knowledge of the workings of Act! by Sage to help with a little technical support.

Let’s keep playing it forward so that we all benefit,

This week has been a good week for connections. I believe we have found the rental space for the non-profit group.  What a treat to be able to help them find a place to call home.

The other great thing was to put the financial expert together with a person with many years of experience with the United Nations and  working with micro-financing in various countries around the world

If you have requests or things which we might be able to help you with, please send an email.

Regarding the Shelter Box information from last week. I have heard from a group in Windsor who would like to sponsor one of these disaster relief boxes with the suggested $10 per month for one year. I would love to hear from others 0ut there. If you don’t have a group of your own please feel free to come and joint mine to help with this worthy cause over the next year.

I have also got a request for a 6,000 square foot premise in the Guelph area needed by a local entrepreneur. Do you know of anyone who would have such?

Still trying to find an affordable 200 – 300 square foot office space in Guelph for a non-profit organization. We’ve looked at a lot but either too big, too grubby or inaccessible to most people. Please keep these needs in the back of your mind when you’re out and about this week.

Shelter Box Canada

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

This connection is a bit different but I hope it strikes a cord with some of you. If you have never heard of Shelter Boxes I urge you to go to www.shelter.box.ca and have a look at what has been done since 2003 arround the world. We don’t need to mobilize troups, only to deliver these gifts of life to a spot where an earthquake or other natural disaster has occurred. They’ve also gone to refugee camps when unnatural disasters occur around the world and populations must move to get out of the way of war or famine.

I have a CD which is available to anyone wanting to see more of how people around the world have found hope and a means of survival quickly and simply through the delivery of a plastic box which contains everything from a tent to bedding, eating utensils and tools which will keep a family for as long as a year.

The Rotary Clubs of Wellington County are undertaking to purchase a number of Shelter Boxes and you will see them displayed at all Rotary events for the next few years at least. If you attend Canada Day in Riverside Park in Guelph on July 1st you can see this marvelous box displayed. The cost is $1200 per box.

I am inviting any of you who feel so inclined to contact me to join in the idea of my fellow Rotarian, Valerie Poulton of Steamatic Cleaning Services. Her suggestion is that if we can form groups of 10 people who will commit to donating $10 per month for one year we will have a Shelter Box ready for any disaster that might happen. Will you join my group? Or start another one with your friends or group?

Last year when the earthquake struck Italy, a lot of people gave money and hoped that it would get to the people who needed it. If Shelter Boxes had been available we could have sent something very concrete and certainly more useful than money. A place for shelter, a means to cook a meal, and some warm bedding received quickly and without fuss would have been a blessing.

Contact me for more details and to sign up.

Connections are growing and changing. I have had two requests this week. Can you help me find?

1) The first is a repeat for an affordable space to rent in Guelph for a non-profit group who needs 200 square feet of office space and access to a board room for once a month meetings. Does anyone know of a church or factory which has some extra space available? Needed by the end of July if at all possible.

2) Next, does anyone out there have a really great recipe for chili or for sauce for spareribs?  The requestor is looking for god full bodied taste but very low in sodium and low in sugar. Anybody?
